1754. The Battle of Fort Necessity marks the beginning of the French Indian War. The French, supported by their Amerindian allies, expel British settlers from the Ohio Valley. A series of battles followed, as both powers sought to assert their dominance over the North American continent. These conflicts would only cease with the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1763.
So, you'll have to choose between the British crown and its colonies, or France and its Amerindian allies. The battles for control of North America will be fierce. Numbers won't be enough: your tactical and strategic acumen is all you need to lead your side to victory.
